Long Eaton RFC

0 - 40

(HT 0-0)

Sileby Town RFC

In a fiercely contested away fixture at Long Eaton Rugby Club, our women's team showcased immense resilience, spirit, and flair to come away with a memorable victory on a sun-drenched Sunday afternoon.

The match didn’t start in ideal fashion, with two early injuries forcing changes within the opening minutes. However, the team quickly pulled together, regrouping with determination and grit that set the tone for the rest of the match. Long Eaton applied pressure and were threatening the try line on multiple occasions, but our defensive line held strong — a true testament to the discipline and communication across the pitch.

When it came to attack, the squad found their rhythm, with tries coming from Meg Maddison, Bethan Wood, and Corinne Stott — who was also named Forward of the Match for her powerhouse performance. But the standout on the scoreboard was Amy Sheldrake, who added another hat-trick to her name in sensational fashion, carving through the opposition defence with confidence and flair. Unsurprisingly, Amy also took home the Oppositions' Player of the Match award.

Kicking duties were expertly handled as well, with Bethan Wood (also named Back of the Match) slotting four conversions and Amie Smith-Jones adding one more to seal the win with style.

After the final whistle, the fun was far from over. The squad swapped boots for beachwear as the post-match social adopted a sunny seaside theme. With karaoke tunes echoing from the team bus and a full catwalk and singalong session hosted at The Royal Oak in Cossington, the celebrations were as spirited off the pitch as they were on it.

Final Thoughts:
A huge well done to all players involved — an outstanding team performance full of heart, hustle, and harmony. Bring on the final game of the league season!

Many thanks to Long Eaton for hosting us.
